Album Review: MG – MG

Martin Gore - MG

Martin Gore takes a step away from Depeche Mode in order to create new material unlike what we have heard from him in the past. His new solo album exemplifies an organic production that is simple yet rich with multiple layers of drum beats and synthesizers. What we get is a cascade of sounds that are reminiscent of the industrial music of Clock DVA as well as pulsating rhythms that evoke Lassigue Bendthaus. It is refreshing to hear an electronic soundscape that’s worthy of being used as a movie soundtrack or explored and appreciated for a journey of the mind. I recommend a listen to this album from beginning-to-end for the wonderful electro-based tunes that buildup with each track.
