‘Goths for Sophie’ 2019 Calendar

fb738978-e680-416f-b1ba-fbc1333d66e8@600x600Twelve Gothic folk from all around the world, have united to form allegiance to raise money for The Sophie Lancaster Foundation.  The ‘Goths for Sophie’ Fundraiser was created to celebrate Goths from all walks of life, all nationalities, as they are, for who they are. It’s about the importance of staying true to yourself and to share the message that it’s OK to be Goth at any age, any nationality, any gender and to express your style and uniqueness without prejudice or discrimination. The 2019 calendar can be ordered at Pozible – ‘Goths for Sophie’.

On August 11th 2007, Sophie Lancaster and her partner were attacked by a gang of teenagers in a park in Lancashire, UK. Instead of fleeing, Sophie went to her partners aid. The couple was kicked, stamped on and left unconscious for nothing more than looking different. Sophie later died from her injuries. Her murder was treated as a Hate Crime.

The foundation is working to have “Alternative Subcultures” or “Lifestyle and Dress Code” added to the Hate Crime strands to ensure that it is not a discretionary option but equal to the existing strands which are:

  • Race
  • Religion
  • Disability
  • Homophobia
  • Transgender
