Four years after their debut album My Ego Is Bigger than Yours (2021), the Romagna-based band Edna Frau is back with their new release, Slow Be Gentle, I’m Virgin, out on June 20, 2025, via 22 Dicembre Records.
For this album, Andrea Fioravanti (Postvorta) and Vincenzo “Vins” Baruzzi (The Doormen), the duo behind the project, dive deeper into the darker side of post-punk while keeping the sharp, raw energy that defines their sound. The tracklist is stripped down to just six songs across 23 minutes, with the new rhythm section—Federico Guardigni (Sunday Morning) on drums and Dario “Seppia” Foschini (Postvorta) on bass—bringing added depth and tension.
The lyrics explore the anxieties of modern life: the lack of merit, the relentless pace of city living, and the constant craving for attention. While the album doesn’t follow a traditional narrative, it offers a cohesive, immersive atmosphere that feels both dark and introspective.
Edna Frau was formed in Ravenna in 2020 by multi-instrumentalist Andrea Fioravanti, who wanted to create a sound more accessible than the extreme style of his main band, Postvorta. Drawing influences from post-punk and electro, with nods to bands like Interpol and Soulwax, the project began to take shape. Along with Vincenzo “Vins” Baruzzi, vocalist of The Doormen, Fioravanti wrote the debut album My Ego Is Bigger than Yours, produced with the help of Riccardo “Paso” Pasini (Studio 73) on mixing and mastering, and Fabio Alessandrini (Annihilator) on drums. To bring the album to the stage, the band expanded to a quartet with Dario “Seppia” Foschini on bass and Federico Guardigni on drums. This lineup recorded their latest release, Slow Be Gentle, I’m Virgin.
