Founded in 1979, Pankow is a pioneer of the Italian industrial sound. Inspired by Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire and early Kraftwerk, the band of Maurizio Fasolo, Alessandro Gimignani, Paul Ray and Alex Spalck created EMB / Industrial tracks that were instant favorites in Europe and N. America.
Among their classic tracks “Kunst Und Wahnsinn” is an electronic / industrial beast officially released in 1989 and became a strong dance track that showcased the energy and talent of Pankow with its simple but driving beats and German lyrics.
The track was first appeared in 1988 as a test pressing on vinyl 12″ backed with “Art & Madness” on German label Zoth Ommog. It was eventually released in 1989 as a vinyl 12″ and CD single on Contempo Records and on vinyl 12″ by KK Records, Zoth Ommog and Head Music Publishers, Ltd.
The track was also featured on the Freedom For The Slaves album released by Wax Trax! Records in 1989.
