There is no looking back in “Room On Fire”, the new single from Fernando’s Eyes, released today via Aenaos Records with an accompanying video.
Fernando’s Eyes is the solo project of Fernando Honorato, the singer and co-founder of Stockholm post-punk band Principe Valiente. Following last year’s Center Of Your World and its accompanying Bonus Tracks & Remixes, “Room On Fire” finds Honorato moving into more direct territory, trading some of the project’s previous spaciousness for something harder, tighter and more physical.
The track is driven by programmed drums and live toms played by Honorato himself, creating a friction between mechanical precision and human weight. Honorato produced the track, with Hans Olsson handling co-production and mix. Through the rhythm, everything seems to be moving in one direction, with little room to stop and reconsider.
Swedish jazz musician Lina Langendorf adds saxophone to the arrangement, cutting through the darkness without softening it. The instrument becomes another element in the tension rather than a decorative flourish, appearing almost like a signal from somewhere inside the track.
“Room On Fire” is ultimately a song about leaving. Not the aftermath, not the regret, but the moment when a decision has already been made and there is nothing left to negotiate. The lyrics carry a sense of departure without sentimentality, while the production keeps its eyes fixed on whatever comes next.
There is no prolonged fade-out, no unresolved ending waiting in the shadows. “Room On Fire” simply keeps moving — forward, into the dark, and without looking back.
