Cold Grey Rain (CGR) has a new album called Awakening of Sorrows that will be released November 15th. Eight new introspective songs about the difficulties of living, the anxieties linked to one’s own life experience and other topical subjects in a context of human darkness. Melancholy songs that touch our soul to the core, addressing themes such as addiction “Those things” loneliness turning to madness “impulsions” and fear of abandonment “Injury”.
CGR is the solo project of Frenchman Sébastien Fort. His synthesizer-based music started in 2015, is characterized by cold, melancholy atmospheres, strangely frozen in time, and seems to float like mist in the early morning. This unique characteristic favors depth of feeling and introspection, a feeling reinforced by the singer’s dark voice. But this sound isn’t just sad and cold, and can become danceable to delight darkwave DJ sets.
CGR first appeared on a compilation by German magazine Orkus in 2015 and a second time in early 2017, Then with a cover of the title “Isolation” from Joy Division for a compilation in 2016. Two physical albums Complexités Humaines in 2015 and Time Waits For No One in 2020 are signed with the Peruvian label Inclubrecords. Also, two collaborations with Marco Cattani’s project “Chemical Waves” and an exclusive track for the compilation My Precious Volume 4 by RedMazeRecords.
CGR influences range from Joy Division to She Past Away through through Dead Can Dance, Faith and the Muse, and the Cure.
