The Swedish duo releases their new single “Dead For Years” to promote their upcoming album Dead Of Night. The track carries a distinct Depeche Mode and Apoptygma Berzerk vibe, which Johan and Robert consider a compliment.
Robert shares, “It’s funny how perception works. I always intended for this track to have a darkwave or even gothic sound. Then a good friend of mine mentioned it sounded a bit like Depeche Mode. I love DM, so that’s great.”
Johan adds, “I always find traces of Depeche Mode in our songs, even if I didn’t consciously include them.”
The lyrics are based on a text by Johnny, a friend of the band also known as DJ Batcat. Johan was inspired by the melancholic tone and decided to write a track that captured that dark, moody vibe. The vocal performance is notably intense, and Johan explains, “It was a really emotionally charged session when Sjöblom recorded the track!”
Through “Dead For Years,” the Swedish duo honors their influences while simultaneously establishing their unique place in the darkwave genre, heightening excitement for the release of Dead Of Night.
