CORLYX return with their latest single and video, “The Holy Vampire,” a darkly theatrical collision of gothic imagery, death rock, and classic darkwave. Released via Out Of Line Music, the track is the fourth single from the band’s forthcoming album The Crimson Tapes, and finds singer-songwriter Caitlin Stokes conjuring a seductive yet sinister false god — a fallen angel archetype designed to deceive, devour, and command attention.
“The Holy Vampire” draws heavily on Stokes’ fascination with the intersection of Gothic literature and religious imagery, themes she has explored since childhood. Musically, CORLYX bridge the sound of their previous album Purple Pain with the darker vision of the new record, moving from classic darkwave verses into a more aggressive death rock-driven structure. The result is danceable, dramatic, and deliberately camp, with enough bite to inspire a mosh pit in the goth club.
The accompanying video, directed and edited by Stokes and filmed alongside Sereina Winters, brings the Holy Vampire character vividly to life, combining CORLYX’s theatrical aesthetic with live footage captured at Prague Gothic Treffen. Equal parts haunting, seductive, and menacing, “The Holy Vampire” offers another glimpse into the world of The Crimson Tapes and the evolving sound of one of dark music’s most distinctive acts.
